Maturing As a Parent
Being a parent is an issue sometimes. There are so many people who do not want to become a parent as they do not want to take the responsibilities. On the other hand, some people crave for it. In this article we will present some ideas and show what it means when you become a parent.
Let us tell you what it means for you when you become a new parent. When you become a parent, you bring a new life in this world that never existed before and now exists because you are there. The kid will be a copy of you. The kid will have similar eyes, hair color and in short, he or she will be a small version of you.
Like all beliefs, these fears tend to stop us from engaging with our kids in a confident and competent way, which in turn creates experiences that affirms our fears that we’re not truly cut out for the job.
So what do we do with these limiting beliefs? The first step is to acknowledge and name their presence e.g. write them down or talk about them with a friend. While the second is to acknowledge our power to let them go and accept the truth, which is that we are all perfect parents. You are the perfect parent for the children you’ve been given, and they’re the perfect children for you.
Being a perfect parent doesn’t mean you should have to do it without support or asking for assistance. Neither does it mean that you have already mastered all the parenting skills that you need.
While the we parent can show up in any number of ways, the most common subject is around school. Usually the we parent will say something like:
“We did not do well in school last year.”
“We got a D in geometry.”
“We skipped school today.”
Are you getting the pattern?
Maturing-with-wisdom skin is my unique way of saying we need to embrace our bodies as we age and not defy our age. We need to embrace and accept the changes our bodies go through. It does not mean we give up - it means we become aware that change happens. With this new awareness, we can then take care of our bodies with gratitude and mindfulness, knowing that our true beauty comes from within. We nurture ourselves in a healthy way and not in an attached way such as longing for the way we once looked. But now we embrace every stage and every moment of life and find joy in the fact that we are maturing; developing into rich, ripe and wisdom filled beings!
A good parent will teach their children the value of money, about manners and respect. Education is without doubt of the utmost importance and the parent should be on hand to help with homework and ensuring that the child is aware of why education is so important.
A good parent will enjoy and want to play with their children. In this busy lifestyle that many people in the western world live, certain parents seem more focused on work rather than spending time with their kids. Children, especially at a young age, learn a great deal through play.
